This past week has been really great! I had a baptism AND it was the 4th of July! Woohoo America! This week we baptized a boy named Julio which was amazing because during his baptism his friend got up to share his testimony and he said that Julio was one of his best friends and that he knows and is happy that Julio was making the best choice that he could make in his life to be baptized. They both started crying and it really was super special because seeing teenagers who are 14 say things like that really means they get it. They get what the gospel can do for them and they understand the significance. It really was the highlight of my week! I learned something this week that I will never forget. We did a division with some members who are in the ward and I left with a guy named Lucas who is a returned missionary. We went to visit some less actiive members and we met with a grandma of someone in the ward. We went there and talked and talked about why its important to go to church and towards the end she opened up to us. She said that she has health problems that make it dificult to walk let alone get to the church. She said she wants to go but she cant walk there. When she was first baptized the bishop would give her a ride to the church and a ride back to her house, so she could attend the meetings. But, after 3 months of this she started to feel guilty, like she was a burden. As she told us this, she started to tear up about feeling as if she was a burden on the Bishop...that she was a chore that he had to do every Sunday. She started to cry and said that she had the faith that if she went to church she would be healed. I dont have a story of a woman miraculously healed, yet, as a part of my missionary experience, but seeing her made me think that maybe when I have helped someone in the past, maybe they felt like they were a burden for me, but really I´ve never felt that way. I've never felt like someone was a hassel to deal with or a burden on my life. We all are sons and daughters of God and we all need to help one another through this life. If you feel like a burden because someone is helping you, know that you aren´t! Don't be ashamed to ask for help because we all need it. Missing out on blessings because you dont want to be a burden or you dont want people to help you is ridiculous! We all need help and we should all help those who need it. We have all been blessed with different talents and blessings and we should share in these blessings with our Brothers and Sisters of God. So, this week I have a challenge for everyone who is reading this: Help someone or ask for help with something that you struggle with. We are all here on Earth to help one another return to Heavenly Father...so move forward and help others.
Thanks for reading my loyal subscribers of the Charles Weekly and if you have a cool experience then email it to me! I think it would be awesome to hear what you all come up with to help one another.
